Here we would like to give you a little historical insight about the Margarethenmühle. Our forest inn was mentioned in a document as early as 1553. At that time it was called Krottenmühle or Kröthenmühle. Due to the Saxon vernacular, the name is said to have become Gretenmühle over time and Margarethenmühle around 1743. It was used as a grist mill until 1941. The inflow of the water took place from the Kaiserbach over the mill ponds and mill canal to the water wheel. GreenSign is a Certification Program for the hotel industry in Europe created by the institute InfraCert. The Program focuses on ecological, economic, and social responsibility. Additionally, the Program is focused on sustainable hotel management and transparency for guests. GreenSign certification includes more than 100 criteria and seven core areas. These areas include; Management and communication, Environment, Purchasing, Regionality and mobility, Quality Management, Social responsibility, and Economic responsibility. The certification is divided into five levels, with Level 5 being the highest. The GreenSign Certificate is valid for 3 years, and all hotels certified must undergo on-site inspection by independent auditing experts.
