The standard measures the criteria stipulated by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE). The criteria relate to 13 different areas that evaluate a hotel's management processes, environmental impact, social, cultural, and economic commitments. All Green Key awarded establishments receive regular on-site audits conducted by well-trained Green Key auditors. Green Key has 3600 awarded establishments in 65 countries, making it one of the world's most geographically widespread tourism ecolabels.
