Ecotourism Australia, established in 1991, is a non-government and not-for-profit organization that promotes and supports the ecotourism industry in Australia. The Ecotourism Australia Certification can be awarded to tours, accommodations, and attractions offered by nature-based tourism operators in Australia. The organization actively promotes sustainable tourism and represents more than 500 environmentally responsible ecotourism operators, 1,700 products, and an increasing number of ecotourism destinations. The Ecotourism Australia Certification is developed to address the need to identify genuine nature and ecotourism operators. The certification includes three different types and levels: nature tourism, ecotourism, and advanced ecotourism.
